Foundation Guidelines

1)Color Advice:
Make up artist are more than wiling to give you color advice however, they always tell consumers that it’s what you prefer on your skin and what color makes you happy. Therefore, take their suggestion and get few samples. It’s always good get few samples to try on your face before you decide which product is the best. MAKE SURE THE SAMPLES CAN BE APPLIED AT LEAST FOR 3 DAYS.
Don’t worry if the color doesn’t match, tell the make up artist what you are looking for and what color you think will suit you. Often, the color looks great in the store but in sunlight it looks horrible. Don’t stop getting more samples till you find correct color for your skin.
2)Skin Type
Test your skin. Are you dry, oily or combination of both? If you are dry skin, you should avoid powder foundation. Personally, I have dry skin and Matt finish (powdery finish) never looks great on me. Try foundation that has some sort of moisturizer feel to it (look for formula that’s hydrating on your skin).  If your skin is oily, Matt finish works best! If you have combination (oily/dry), I prefer you make judgement if your skin is more dry or oily. From this, you can tell if you should by powder or moist.
3) How to check if it’s correct shade?
Apply your make up. Check at 8 am in sunlight. Make sure there is sunlight. Observe your face closely, this will give you an idea if it’s correct shade or not. Sometimes the color inside of your house looks different in the sunlight. If the sunlight doesn’t bother you, than it’s okay. However, this is a great way to observe if the color is correct for you.
4) Acne ??
I have noticed that many foundations (almost all) causes acne on someone’s. Everyone’s skin is different. Therefore, when you try new foundation, it’s good to wash your brushes and sponges daily. This will help you figure out if foundation is causing you acne or dirty brushes that you haven’t cleaned for months.
Example: I started using beauty blender (Review coming up soon), it’s a great product. However, after reading many reviews, I heard it’s good to wash it everyday to avoid acne since we are using it as damp sponge. Within two days, my new foundation that looks so great caused acne. Now, I am washing my sponge everyday and trying to find out if the sponge or foundation is problem. The reason that I believe foundation is not causing acne because when I applied with brushes, I had no problem! SO LET’s C.
